GENERAL SUMMARY:Under general supervision, performs a variety of medical receptionist duties such as; including greeting and scheduling patient and visitors, administrative duties involved with coordinating patient and physician schedules and office organization and keeping paperwork organized. The medical office front desk mainly uses telephones and computers to communicate with patients and staff, so they must have basic knowledge of computers. This position frequently works during regular business hours in an office setting and travel is almost never required. Hours may vary depending on the scheduled clinics. Must interact frequently with patients, medical professionals, and supervisors, meaning they must have excellent communication skills and be personable. SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Reports to Head of Patient Access and works under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager for daily operations. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Answer multi-line phones and either direct the caller to the appropriate party or handle the callerxe2x80x99s needs yourselfGreet patients upon arrival, sign them in, collect completed paperwork as necessary.Provide patients with copies of our office policies and legally required documentsSchedule appointments for new and recurring patients based on Physician and PA/NP availabilitySchedule patient orders based on the Physician and PA/NP recommendationsMaintain electronic health recordsCall patients to reschedule them of upcoming appointments and to help them schedule testing for off-site servicesProvide patients with support and guidance as needed Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested including annual HIPAA and OSHA training. Maintains work area according to OSHA guidelines.Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.Performs other related duties as required. PHYSICAL DEMAND AND WORKING CONDITIONS:Requires full range of body motion including handling, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.Work is of medium demand and requires stationary position for long periods of time.Occasionally lifts and carries heavy items.Talking and hearing for receiving patients, making and canceling appointments, and communicating with office staff.Requires normal visual acuity.Contact involves dealing with sick people. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of medical practice patient care.Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.Ability to establish and maintain rapport with patients, physicians, managers, co-workers and contacts external to the practice.
