In alignment with CPS/ISBE, our school strives to provide high quality and specially designed instructional supports and services for all students with disabilities within the least restrictive environment. We work collaboratively with the goal of improving the academic achievement of all students with disabilities by ensuring they receive meaningful and relevant access to grade level core instruction within the school. Teachers provide appropriate, effective, and culturally relevant instruction for grades 9-12 aligned to SAT, AVID College Readiness, and state standards. IHSCA ensures that students are provided a safe learning environment that supports student social-emotional growth as well as academics.POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Front Desk Clerk reports to the Director of Operations. The Front Desk Clerk serves as the first point of contact for parents, students, and visitors. Day-to-day responsibilities include answering phones and Substitute Coverage Coordination.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESBe a warm welcoming presence and greet all guests.Greets school visitors and answers telephones; refers callers and responds to routine inquiries in a courteous manner.Receives, sorts and distributed incoming mail.Performs a wide variety of clerical work such as assisting with photocopies, faxes, and all mailouts.Complies and maintains inventory of IHSCAxe2x80x99s office supplies and PPE supplies.Coordinates Internal Substitution between Cadre Substitutes for IHSCA Teachers’ absences.Coordinate all Lunch Form Applications with IHSCA Families.Track and Enter Lunch Forms into ODA.Coordinate with the IT/Facilities Department for Summer Classroom Relocating if needed.Maintains records of items requiring control, e.g., keys for IHSCA Teachers.Assist with obtaining updating Demographics from IHSCA Families.May assist with registration duties such as originating and preparing registration packets, scheduling families with registration appointments, and other general correspondence related to the registration process.Coordinate Report Card Pick Up (Parent Teacher Conferences) such as Room Reservations, Print Report Cards, and any other correspondence that support conferences.Serves as a liaison between IHSCA and IDPL for room reservations and event scheduling between entities.Assist with Professional Development Agendas and Provide Teachers with CPDU Forms.Assisting families with early dismissal for students.Maintaining an efficient, clean, and well-organized reception area at all times.Assisting with various tasks for open houses and enrollment season.Treat students, parents and the public courteously, tactfully, and diplomacy.Develop and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.Other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or GED equivalentKnowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other computer software programs such as ASPEN and PowerSchool (preferred)Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasksWillingness to work flexible schedules including some eveningsSupportive nature and ability to stay upbeat in difficult situationsAbility to develop positive relationships with students, parents, teachers and communityAbility to work in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing multiple, competing tasks and demands and seek supervisory assistance as appropriatePossess a can-do attitude and a willingness to take on whatever needs to be doneStrong customer focusAbility to embrace change with flexibilityDependability and punctualityAbility to respond to emergency situations while maintaining composureExperience working with a volunteer, community service, or nonprofit organization is preferredAbility to maintain a high sense of confidentialityAbility to work as a member of a team and as an individual with minimal supervisionExceptional organization and time management skillsExcellent oral and written communication skills, bilingual in English and Spanish requiredStrong telephone skillsDependability and punctualityStrong project management skills, attention to detail, and effective management of multiple projects at one timeAbility to adhere to deadlines and effectively react to and manage unpredictable events and changesAdvanced skills with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the InternetThe above is intended to describe the general conditions of and requirements for the performance of this job.
